Permastructure is led by owner-builder Nicholas Jouin who has worked in the sustainable building industry for over 20 years. The team includes highly skilled carpenters, foremen, project managers and an in-house architect.

Nicholas is a French-Australian Builder & Director of Permastructure Pty Ltd. He is passionate about sustainable building and has extensive experience in Building Biology, sustainable design, fine carpentry & flexible-form rammed earth. He has been building with hemp for more than 10 years. He a keen eye for detail and an ability to work with a client’s vision in a collaborative way. .He is known for his friendly demenour and his exceptional problem solving abilities. He is a certified Passivehaus tradesperson.

James Cornell -
Project Manager
James Cornell has been an industry expert on the topic of construction and sustainability for over 20 years. As a licensed builder and master carpenter, James is interested in sustainable, energy-efficient construction and using natural materials to build. He is the founding director of Life Panels, the primary importer of wood fibre systems within the Australasian market. James is a certified Passive House Consultant and Designer. James can offer consultation, solutions and problem-solving for implementing construction methods and details whilst considering passive house principals.
Carole Huard -
Architect
Carol is a French-Australian architect who has experience in designing luxury apartments, hotels and homes in Paris and rural France, a boutique hotel in Laos and a retreat centre in Costa Rica. She worked for Archisoul Architects in Syndey, designing residential renovations and new homes in the Northern Beaches area. Carole is passionate about reducing the negative environmental impacts of architecture/building on the environment. Her designs are inspired by creating healthy and thermally comfortable indoor environments. She is a fully qualified Passive House Designer and Consultant in 2020.
